Speakers wade in Kaduna Assembly Crisis

The Conference of Speakers of Nigeria has set up  a six-man committee to mediate in the leadership crisis rocking Kaduna State House of Assembly, chairman of the conference,  Honourable Inuwa Garba has said.

Garba, who doubles as Speaker of Gomber State Assembly, made the disclosure Wednesday in his office in Gombe.

He named Speaker of Abia State Assembly, Hon. Udoh Ugochukwu chairman of the committee. Members are Hon. Sanusi Garba, Hon. Victor Oche, Hon. John Clerk Dabwan, Hon. Adewale Olerin and Hon. Chinwe Enwebli, Speakers of Zamfara, Delta, Plateau, Ekiti and Anambra State Houses of Assembly respectively.

Garba  expressed disappointment over the crisis, however assuring that the committee’s report would help the conference take a position and forestall a reoccurence of such.

Garba said the Speakers’ Conference was shocked by the chaos in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, but  would not fold its hands and watch such misconduct among its members.

He urged people of the state to remain calm and tasked the state law makers to conduct themselves honourably as members of one of the oldest Houses of Assembly  in Nigeria.
