Sule Lamido’s Sons Arrested Over N11 Billion Local Govt. Funds

Two sons of Governor Sule  Lamido of Jigawa State, Aminu and Mustapha have been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC over N11 Billion Local Government funds transfered to their companies.

They were arrested in Kano and transferred to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja yesterday for further interrogation.

Sources told pointblanknews.com that Aminu, one of the son’s of Gov. Lamido who was caught attempting to launder $50, 000.00 on his way to Egypt in December 2012 made statements implicating his family.

Investigators discovered that the Lamidos have been enjoying unfettered access to public funds especially funds meant for the 27 local councils of Jigawa state, since 2007 according sources.

According to a source who is part of the investigating team, since 2007, monies meant for Local Government affairs in the state have been reportedly transferred to Companies own and run by the Lamidos.

Investigators listed companies where funds meant for Local Governments in Jigawa State have been taken to as: Bamaina Alluminium Limited, Bamaina Holdings Limited, Bamaina Company Nigeria Limited, Rawda Integrated Services Limited, Speeds International Limited and Saby Integrated Nigeria Limited.

Lamido and sons are Directors and signatories to the companies’ accounts

The siblings are Aminu Lamido, a 2010 graduate of Mass communication of Bayero University, and Mustapha Lamido, an alumnus of the University of Abuja.

Sources close to the EFCC, confirming the arrest, said, ” the suspects and their files have been taken to Abuja.”

Meanwhile, Governor Lamido has abandoned the Governors ‘ forum retreat in Sokoto for Abuja to secure the release of his children.

The Governor is also one of the arrow heads of the G7 Governors and the rebel PDP who have demanded that  President Goodluck Jonathan stop the EFCC from going after the former Kwara state governor, Bukola Saraki or any of their members.
