Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu is not resting on his oars in his
desperate bid to compromise the Justices of the Supreme Court to deliver a
favourable judgment in a case of submission of false information and fake
tax documents filed against him by a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic
Party,PDP, Sir Friday Nwosu.
Sources told Pointblanknews.com that the Governor had decided to change
gear and channel his $50million bribe through a former governor of Rivers
State, Peter Odili, whose wife, Mary Odili, is a Justice of the Supreme
Court and an oil magnet and politician, Dr. Ifeanyi Uba.
Governor Ikpeazu was at the Lagos home of the Anambra born politician up
till 1am on December 24 to Christmas Day, trying to resolve issues he had
with the Capital Oil boss.
Uba was alleged to have invested a whooping N500 million in Governor
Ikpeazu’s election in 2015 and the Governor never went back to say “thank
you.”
Ikpeazu’s recent visit to Uba is to mend fences with Uba and woo his
support and connections towards his case at the Supreme Court.
According to a source, the Governor is said to have consulted with his
lawyers and advisers and was advised to widen his scope to reach out to
Supreme Court Justices and politicians who have links to the leadership of
the Court to ensure a favourable judgment.
On Boxing Day, the Governor is also said to have taken delivery of a part
of USD 50 million from his lead lawyer, Chief Wole Olanipekun, to divert
attention of security agencies and the prying public.
A source close to Governor Ikpeazu said he is angry that the USD50 million
is being appropriated in circumstances where he will not know whether they
get to their proposed destinations or not. One of the Governor’s aides had
challenged Olanipekun who kept some parts of the $50 million for the
settlement of some interest but were ordered to stop making noise and do
what they were asked to do.
The source stated that there is tension in the Governor’s camp over the
Supreme Court judgment which may be delivered on January 18.
