Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, has stated that Nigerians have
not benefitted much from the dividends of democracy.
In his Sallah message issued by Abu Shekara, his Director-General on Media
and Public Affairs, Tambuwal lamented that many Nigerians had been
complaining but he expressed hope for better days for the country.
He urged the Muslim faithful to “use the period for sober reflection and
to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice for peace, unity and progress of the
country”.
The Governor, in a series of tweets via the handle of the Government
House, said peaceful co-existence and understanding, as well as sustained
prayers, are “essential in the face of the current economic and security
challenges in the country, which are not insurmountable”.
It read: “Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has expressed hope
for better days for the country, amidst the crisis rocking our nation
insisting that tough times don’t last forever.
“In his Sallah message to Muslims issued by His DG on Media & Public
Affairs, Abu Shekara (@AbunNana), Tambuwal called on the faithful to use
the period for sober reflection and to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice for
peace, unity and progress of the country.
“@GovSokoto also noted that peaceful co-existence and understanding, as
well as sustained prayers among citizens, were essential in the face of
the current economic and security challenges in the country, which are not
insurmountable.
“He said: ‘The elasticity of Nigerian patience has been overstretched, the
citizens are tired, starved of contemporary democratic dividends which has
made many to voice out their complaints”. Tambuwal stressed emphatically.
Tambuwal stressed emphatically, “these grumbles should never break us but
rather create a strong resolve to fight for our country because there
exist hope.”
He advised the privileged to imbibe the lifestyle of Prophet Muhammad
(SAW), in reaching out to the needy in the season of celebration, just as
he harped on the need for peaceful co-existence among Nigerians,
irrespective of religious and ethnic differences.
