The single barrel Jojeff Magnum rifle found in  the home of the suspended Central Bank of  Nigeria, CBN, Governor Godwin Emefiele, was found after he had spent nearly a month under detention by the Department of State Security, DSS, pointblanknews.com can confirm.

A scoop obtained by this medium revealed that the prohibitive weapon with serial number 8371 was recovered from the Ikoyi, Lagos home of Emefiele located at No.3B, Iru  Close between 15th/16th June, 2023.

The embattled central banker in a secret memo obtained by our correspondent wrote, “The above item (referring to the rifle) was recovered from my residence.” He signed with his name, dated July 12, 2023.

Following his fall from grace to grass, Emefiele was suspended by President Bola Tinubu on July 9, 2023 and a few days later, was arrested in Lagos by the Department of State Services who flew him to Abuja on a private jet.

He was accused of economic sabotage, abuse of office and terrorism financing but was arraigned on two count charges of illegal possession of firearm without a license and 23 rounds of live ammunition.

Although Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court granted the ex-CBN boss bail when he was arraigned on Tuesday in Lagos, a scuffle broke out between the operatives of the DSS and men of the Nigeria Correctional Service, with the former whisking Emefiele away.

The act has been roundly condemned by lawyers, civil society organizations and other eminent citizens.
