Primate Elijah Ayodele has raised alarm over what he describes as a looming international plot, alleging that the U.S. government does not want President Bola Tinubu to remain in power beyond 2027.
The Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church issued the warning in a statement on Sunday through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, urging the President to take steps to avert what he described as a foreign-backed political disruption.
The cleric is known for issuing warnings or so-called prophecies on political matters. Sometimes, he also delves into football matters.
Many have wondered why his God has not given him the silver bullet to shoot down insecurity, bad governance and poverty in Nigeria.
According to Ayodele, recent remarks credited to Washington regarding Nigeria’s political situation signal a looming confrontation that could undermine Tinubu’s administration.
“The American government doesn’t want you in 2027,” he declared.
“There are plans to destabilise your government ahead of the next election. Don’t sleep over it; seek divine guidance and be watchful.”
He linked the purported foreign interest to increasing global pressure on Nigeria over insecurity and alleged religious persecution, warning that any negligence could lead to political turmoil that may jeopardize national stability.
Ayodele further cautioned that some internal actors may collaborate with foreign interests to frustrate Tinubu’s ambition of securing a second term in office.
“There are insiders working with external forces. Strengthen your government and avoid being taken by surprise,” he added.
The prophet has issued similar forecasts in the past, including an earlier caution in April that the U.S. would form “major opposition” to Tinubu’s re-election bid.
While there has been no official reaction from the Presidency regarding Ayodele’s latest prophecy, the warning comes amid ongoing diplomatic tension between Abuja and Washington over human rights and rising attacks on Christian communities in Nigeria.
