2 in Police net over armed robbery, rape of ex-Abia Chief Judge’s daughter

The Abia State Police Command has arrested two members of a six-man armed robbery gang that robbed the residence of a former Chief Judge of the State and raped his daughter in Aba.

The suspects; Emmanuel Paul and Ifeanyi Onyemesi, in collaboration with other members of the gang, were said to have gained entry into the house of the ex-Chief Judge of the state where they robbed the family of their valuables and raped one of his daughters.

It was gathered that the two suspects were nabbed at a location along the Aba – Owerri expressway.

Recovered from the gang include plasma tv, mobile phones and wristwatches which they stole from the ex-Chief Judge’s residence.

Police sources stated that the gang also robbed one Ndodim Ikechi of his wristwatch, phones, cash and his traveling documents on March 1, shot him in the left eye, leaving his eye socket ruptured.

Police Relations Officer, Abia State Command, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, was unavailable for comments. But a top police officer in the Abia State Command confirmed the incident, stressing that Police has launched efforts to track other fleeing members of the gang.
