A political analyst, Barr. Olusegun Bamgbose has predicted that nobody can stop President Gioodluck Jonathan if he decides to contest in 2015.
In a interview with our correspondent, the activist posited that no group or individual has the capacity to stop Jonathan from renewing his mandate in 2015.
“It is clear that no mortal can stop Jonathan. He is destined to rule beyond 2015 and nobody can stop him; not even the APC, Bola Tinubu or Muhammadu Buhari. Jonathan is constitutionally qualified for re-election in 2015.No one can stop that. The president cannot be intimidated by any group or persons,” he boasted.
Bamgbose who is also the National Coordinator for Concerned Advocate for Good Governance (CAGG) berated most of the governors on the platform of the PDP for their opposition to Jonathan.
“I’m quite aware of the moves by the PDP governors to stop Jonathan. The opposition looks so strong but the truth is that it would fail as no amount of conspiracy or gang up can stop Jonathan.”
He berated the governor of Niger state, Babangida Aliyu for his outbursts on a purported agreement that Jonathan promised to spend only one term in office.
“Babangida Aliyu is over ambitious. He has allowed his ambition to make him blind. The statement made by him is very unfortunate. It is a cheap and meaning propaganda against the president. Nigerians have come to know the kind of person Aliyu is. Did Senator Kanti Bello not dismiss Aliyu’s claims of Jonathan signing a purported agreement to do one term? So, if Senator Kanti Bello dismissed it, it does not exist. . Babangida Aliyu should not be taken serious,” he said.
“They should stop overheating the polity and allow Jonathan to prove himself to Nigerians as a leader who can provide dividends of democracy.
They should stop distracting the president,” he said.
He averred that the Abia state governor; Chief Theodore Orji is a strong supporter of Jonathan and can never be part of the governors’ gang up against him. “Gov. Orji is one governor Jonathan can trust because his solidarity for the president cannot be contested.”
Bamgbose further called on the governors to concentrate on the onerous task of developing their states than fighting the president.
On the newly formed APC, the political analyst posited that it lacks the capacity to dislodge the PDP in 2015. “APC is a political gimmick by the opposition; it lacks the political charm to defeat the PDP come 2015.
Jonathan remains the man to beat. If the PDP fields the incumbent president in 2015, it is clear that the APC will lose. We are already seeing signs of crack in the APC, so the merger is not a threat to the PDP. It is just a thing that will come to pass as other before it did. In the history of the country, there have been many mergers, but none of them has succeeded,” he concluded.
