Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State has strongly dissociated itself from the recent coalition movement involving the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other political actors, stating unequivocally that the party remains united and focused on strengthening its base ahead of future elections.
In an official statement signed by the State Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Hamza Ibrahim, and made available to the media, the PDP state chapter said it was not part of any coalition arrangement and warned its members against participating in any such meetings or alliances.
“This is to bring to the notice of the general public, our teeming and loyal members and supporters that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Nasarawa State is united, stronger and more formidable than ever,” Ibrahim stated.
He noted that the leadership of the party is actively working to correct internal issues and rebuild confidence among its members, describing ongoing efforts to “redefine our strategies and to present a more formidable team for the next electioneering season and beyond.”
Reiterating the party’s non-involvement in the coalition talks, Ibrahim said, “The state chapter of the PDP vehemently distanced herself from the ADA/ADC/COALITION and we implore our respected stakeholders who have the interest of the generality of the party and state at heart, our dedicated members, and by extension every citizen, to disassociate themselves from attending any meetings in the name of coalition.”
The statement further emphasized inclusivity and the party’s open-door policy.
“The UMBRELLA is big enough to accommodate all interests and to provide a credible platform for reformation and to provide alternative leadership for our dear state and the country at large,” he declared.
Ibrahim assured members that the PDP leadership, both at the state and national levels, is “working assiduously to resolve all issues bordering on internal disagreements” and is “committed to ensuring that the party remains the best option for the nation.”
As part of its strategic direction, the party plans to convene an expanded State Executive meeting in the near future to review its current position and chart a roadmap moving forward.
“This meeting will take stock of our progress, challenges, and put in place the necessary roadmap for the next line of action,” the statement concluded.
This development is seen as a clear signal that the PDP in Nasarawa State intends to maintain its independence and consolidate its structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
