Legendary Nigerian singer, Innocent Ujah Idibia, known globally as 2Baba, has further cemented his legacy following one of the most prestigious recognitions in recent memory. His 2004 classic “African Queen” has been crowned the greatest Afrobeats song of all time on Billboard’s 2025 “50 Best Afrobeats Songs of All Time” list .
Taking to social media, his wife Natasha Osawaru, who also serves as an Edo State lawmaker, celebrated his success with heartfelt praise: “Congratulations, my husband. Ain’t nobody badder than you. You are a living legend and a blessing to all of us. You’ve made Nigeria proud. I salute you.”
Billboard’s editorial team ranked “African Queen” at No. 1, noting its revolutionary impact on Afrobeats. The track introduced 2Baba as a standout solo artist following the dissolution of Plantashun Boiz, and became a defining anthem celebrated for its emotional depth and cultural resonance .
Music heavyweights have also taken to various social media platforms to applaud the singer:
Timaya, acclaimed singer, referred to 2Baba as “the godfather of modern Afrobeat,” emphasizing the enduring influence of his work.
Veteran music executive Kenny Ogungbe, who once promoted 2Baba under Kennis Music, called the accolade “long overdue” for someone who “laid the foundation for today’s global Afrobeat wave.”
On social media, the hashtag #2BabaBillboardLegend trended, with one fan channeling nostalgic reverence:
“Africa Queen was the gateway song that made the world fall in love with Afrobeat. 2Baba deserves all the flowers”
This recognition is another feather on 2Baba’s storied cap and Natasha has been a constant pillar of support. After his separation from long-time wife Annie Idibia, 2Baba married Natasha in a traditional ceremony on July 25, 2025, attended by close family members .
Despite scrutiny, 2Baba maintained that his bond with Natasha is rooted in peace of mind and true love, describing her as a woman of dignity, value, beauty, and intelligence.
Earlier this year, when Natasha received a Human Resources award, he hailed her publicly as a “beautiful lawmaker” and pledged his unwavering support. From the entertainment desk of Pointblanknews.com, it’s congratulations galore to the legend.
