Abia: Reps member sues INEC for failing to publish his name as Senatorial candidate

by Our Reporter

Member representing Isiala Ngwa North/ Isiala Ngwa South federal constituency of Abia State at the House of Representatives, Hon. Darlington Nwokocha, has sued the Independent National electoral Commission (INEC) for failing to publish his name as the senatorial candidate of the Labour Party for Abia Central senatorial district.

Nwokocha, who is seeking a third term at the House of Representatives, had dumped the PDP and defected to the Labour Party and won the party’s senatorial candidate for Abia Central zone.

The lawmaker won the senatorial primaries of the Labour Party held on the 8th of June 2022.

However, INEC had two weeks ago, in a letter signed by the Secretary of the Commission, Mrs Rose Anthony, stated that the Labour Party did not submit the name of any candidate for the Abia Central senatorial zone for the 2023 election.
