Abia targets N1.5billion IGR monthly

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has said that Abia state government
targets to raise its internally- generated revenue to N1.5 billion
monthly.

The governor disclosed this to journalists during the maiden media
briefing yesterday in  Umuahia.
It will be recalled that the state IGR initially hovers between N300 to
N600billion monthly.

According to the governor, part of the steps taken by the state to achieve
to achieve this target is the ongoing infrastructural rehabilitation going
in the state, especially Aba, the commercial hub of the state.

He said that the state is currently undertaken the reconstruction of over
20 roads, adding that more road constructions in the state are due for
inauguration in less than one week.

He said that the state government’s plan is to do an average of 100 trucks
of waste everyday for 30 days, stressing that that has been completed and
would be extended.

The governor assured that desilting of drainages in Aba would be a monthly
exercise for six months.
