Newly appointed General Manager of Kano Pillars Football Club, Ahmed Musa, has dismissed as false the viral reports claiming he gifted brand-new SUVs to players and staff following his appointment.
The rumour, which gained traction on social media shortly after Musa’s unveiling on July 7, alleged that the former Super Eagles captain had handed out Land Cruiser vehicles as a welcome gesture to team members.
In a swift response, Musa sadly described the reports as “entirely untrue,” cautioning the public against spreading unverified information capable of tarnishing the club’s image.
“I urge everyone to always verify before sharing news. This particular story is completely false,” Musa said.
Continuing, Musa said, “Our focus remains on building a strong, disciplined, formidable and successful team at Kano Pillars.”
Kano Pillars FC also issued a formal statement discrediting the rumour, and told the public that only announcements made through the club’s verified communication channels should be trusted.
Further investigations by local sports media confirmed the story was fabricated. One report noted that the images used to support the claim were recycled from unrelated events. A current Kano Pillars player was quoted saying, “It’s a big lie. I’m here with Pillars and there is nothing like that.”
Musa, who previously played for Kano Pillars before rising to international prominence, is expected to bring his leadership experience to reposition the club as a formidable force in Nigerian football.
Sources close to the management say Musa is already working on restructuring the team’s technical direction and improving player welfare.
His appointment has been widely welcomed by fans, with many expressing hope that his influence will attract more investment and stability to the club.
