Governor Godswill Akpabio has called for a partnership between the German Government and Akwa Ibom Government in the areas of education, personnel training and health-care services.
Akpabio, who made the call Thursday when the Germany Chancellor to Nigeria, Mr. Steffan Witterwer paid him a courtesy visit at Governor’s Office, Uyo, hinted that the state government was constructing a Specialist Hospital and running Akwa Ibom State University, among others.
He said it would be proper for the German Government to give support in those areas to assist the state government in rendering more meaningful services to the populace, stating ”Your presence in this state would bring the needed support. I want to sit back and hear the packages you wll unfold for us”.
The Governor commended the German Government through the Chancellor for allowing Julius Berger, a leading light in the construction industry and a worthy partner to help his administration in developing the state.
Earlier, the Chancellor, Mr. Witterwer accompanied by his wife and the Managing Director of an Abuja-based Felak Concept Limited, Dr. (Mrs) Aisha S. Achologu had described as outstanding and exemplary the development strides in Akwa Ibom.
Witterwer said while in Abuja, he heard alot about the development strides in the state and that what he has seen has satisfied his curiousity, adding ”Once you have the determination and will, you can do a lot”.
