Former Governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Tanko Al-Makura, has declared his willingness to serve in any capacity under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, including as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), if called upon.
Speaking in a recent television interview, Al-Makura stated that while he does not lobby for positions, he remains committed to the party’s ideals and is ready to heed any call to serve.
“I am a party man to the core,” he said. “If I am asked to be chairman, I’ll accept. If I am asked to dust the table in Tinubu’s office, I will gladly do it.”
He stressed that loyalty and dedication to the party were more important than personal ambition.
“I believe in the supremacy of the party. Whatever the party says, I’ll do. I don’t chase positions. But if the party or the President says ‘come and serve,’ I will never say no,” Al-Makura added.
The APC national chairmanship position has been the subject of political discourse in recent weeks, with speculations that the slot may be zoned to the North-Central region where Al-Makura hails from, amid internal party consultations.
Al-Makura, who served as Nasarawa Governor from 2011 to 2019 before representing Nasarawa South in the Senate, is widely regarded as a loyal and influential figure within the APC. His name has consistently featured in discussions surrounding the next potential leader of the ruling party.
