Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has said that All Progressives
Congress
Party will take over Abia State in 2015 following calls by the people for
change
from the present downturn in the fortune of Abia State in governance.
Governor Okorocha made this Statement through his deputy, Prince Eze
Madumere at a
well attended stakeholders meeting of South East All Progressives Congress in
Umuahia.
Prince Madumere, called for unity purpose, sacrifice and necessary
compromises to
achieve peace and cohesion in the party especially in Abia State. He told
the party
faithful the need for them to work as a team, which he said is the needed
tonic that
will see them chase People’s Democratic Party away with their failed
administrations.
Continuing, he reminded them that Imo and Abia are sister States and that
the five
South Eastern States are one and wondered why others States should be
lagging
behind in growth and development. He promised them of Imo example, which
he said is
achievable with hard work and reaching out. He boasted that APC States
have dwarfed
other States of the parties with dwindling ideas in terms of performance and
development.
“Governor Okorocha who is synonymous with free education programmes from
primary to
tertiary level, massive infrastructural development and five star
performances in
every facets has also promised to throw his weight behind the party to
achieve
success in the South East in 2015 general elections,” said Madumere.
He therefore assured the Abia chapter of the party to move on without any
fear of
intimidation since the have the people and the backing of Governor Owelle
Rochas
Okorocha and the entire leadership of the party.
Earlier in the meeting, the National Auditor of All Progressives
Congress, Chief
Goerge Moghalu told the party faithful to go on sensitization of the
people and win
people for the party. He particularly said that the leader in the South
East Owelle
Rochas Okorocha has taken the lead in governance as no other States in the
South
East can boast of Governor Okorocha’s giant strides. He said he understood
their
challenges but should not be intimidated by anybody. They should stand up
to be
counted if really the want change, which is long over due in the South
East and in
Abia in Particular.
Mr. Moghalu in emotional tone said he is particularly interested in Abia
State
because he has a history with the State. ” I was born here, brought up
here, may
parents are here and I had my education here. Things have fallen apart.
Let us make
hares while the sun shinee. Abia is a failed State and it is ripe for
harvest for
our great party, APC.”
In the same vein, the National Vice Chairman, South East, Chief Emmanuel
Eneukwu
also reiterated the need to sell the product they have since all the APC
States are
doing far better that PDP States. He also used Governor Okorocha as a
tactical
example and assured them that the same police change can still be
replicated in
Abia and other South East States.
Speaking further he assured them that the party is not unaware of the fact
that some
people have worked and sacrificed for the the party to come to the level
is stands.
He said such persons will always be remembered but called Fo accommodation
of all
since people is the nucleus of any vibrant political party.
Others who spoke at the stakeholders meeting were the Deputy National
Woman Leader,
Helen Chika Adike, former Interim National Vice Chairman, South East, Dr.
Anyim
Nyerere, the South East Youth leader, Mr. Paul Chukwuma and so many other
National
officers including member of APC BoT, Sam Nkire, Ex-Officio, Nduka and
other State
Executive members who were present at the meeting
