The acting Commander Nigerian Army Education Corps Brigadier General Sunday Adedapo Adebayo has pledge to improve the standard of Command Schools nationwide through upgrade of infrastructure and academic excellence to enable them function effectively in educating wards of military personnel and civilian counterpart.
He made this pledge during a courtesy visit to Army headquarters formations located in Lagos.
The Commander urged officers and soldiers to seize the opportunity and enroll their wards into various Command schools located in different states across the country. He stressed the need for all to join the campaign against examination malpractice because it is only through uprooting the menace of exam irregularities educational excellence can be achieved.
General Adebayo also lamented the attitude of some personnel living in the military quarters but make a little effort to maintain it from total dilapidation. He therefore urged residents of AN Barracks where the headquarters Nigerian Army Education Corps is located to co-operate with the Commander’s drive to give face-lift to accommodations in the barracks using personal efforts.
He noted that “if you live in an accommodation, it is your house and it is your responsibility to take care of it. I also live in AN Barrack, I ensure I gave my house and that of a neighbor a facelift through changing the roof, windows and painting” He therefore implored officers living in the Barracks to ensure the neatness and sanitation of the barracks.
While at the Headquarters 81 Division, Brigadier General Adebayo commended the General officer commanding the Division Major General Obi Abel Umahi for his unrelenting support to all army schools under his command adding that “the corps will continue to ensure better performance of its roles in support of Chief of Army Staff vision”
Other formations visited include Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Center, Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, Finance Corps, Other Directorates headquarters within Lagos. Climax of the visits was presentations of souvenirs and group photographs.
