Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has dismissed claims by former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde agreed to be his vice-presidential candidate in exchange for a ₦10 billion contribution, describing the allegation as entirely false.
Fayose had alleged the that the deal was made during Atiku’s recent visit to the residence of former Head of State Ibrahim Babangida, a claim Atiku’s camp said was a fabrication.
On Thursday in Abuja, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication to the former Vice President, Phrank Shuaibu , said: “There were no negotiations over vice-presidential tickets during Atiku’s visit to former Head of State Ibrahim Babangida. The former VP never engaged in any ‘imaginary horse-trading’ as alleged.”
He added, “Fayose’s story is not insider information but ‘insider fiction,’ meant to mislead, distract, and provoke the public.”
The statement clarified Atiku’s position, rejecting Fayose’s allegations and emphasizing that no discussions regarding vice-presidential arrangements took place during his visit to former Head of State Ibrahim Babangida.
