The Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) has resolved to lead the move to save what it describes as the dwindling state of the aviation sector.

After a meeting which stretched into the early hours of Thursday morning, the chairman of the Forum, Chibuike Ameachi, who read their communique said the forum has resolved to engage national stakeholders in the sector in order to produce a holistic approach in tackling the decline of the sector.

He said “upon comprehensive discussion on the present state of Aviation industry members of the forum observed that there is need for holistic approach to arrest the dwindling state of the aviation sector and resolved to engage all stakeholders at the national level to address the challenge.”

Decrying the state of insecurity in the country, the forum mandated its committee on security to provide a lasting solution to the malaise.

Ameachi said “Forum extensively deliberated on the current insecurity in the country and expresses deep regret over the recent acts of violence in Borno and Kaduna states and consequently mandated the security committee of the Forum to commence work immediately with a view of finding a lasting solution.”

They further reaffirmed their dedication to eradicate polio from the country by December 2013.

“On the current efforts to eradicate polio, forum commended the on-going efforts of members in their various states in past six months and reiterated the need for renewed commitment to eradicating polio by December 2013 as agreed at its previous meeting.”

They however congratulated the Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, over his victory in the just concluded governorship election.
