BABY FACTORY: ABIA GOVT PULLS DOWN 5- STOREY HOSPITAL IN ABA

by Our Reporter
Abia state government has pulled down the 5 storey building complex which houses the Ezuma Hospital in Aba over reported cases of baby factory and child trafficking.
The building located at 101 Okigwe road, Aba is allegedly being used by its owner, Dr. James Ezuma to harbour pregnant teenagers whose babies are sold on delivery.
The demolition exercise supervised by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Renewal, Chief Godwin Nna , caused traffic jam at the ever busy Okigwe road as a crowd of residents watched with amazement. A combined team of security agents was also on hand to provide cover.
Briefing newsmen at the scene, Nna said that the state government decided to demolish the building in conformity with the laws of Abia State against child trafficking and kidnapping in human persons, stressing that a similar exercise had been carried out in Afara-Ibeku community of the state capital.
“Apart from being used as a baby factory, the building was built outside the approved plan given to the owner. The state government through the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Renewal will not hesitate to pull down structures in the state erected outside the approved building plans,” the commissioner said.

Pointblanknews.com gathered that Ezuma who is a native of Ndiakunwata in Arondizuogu, Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State is notorious for the harbouring of pregnant teenagers and sale of babies.
He had on several times, been arrested by security operatives over the conversion of his hospital to a baby factory where babies are sold ranging from N250,000 to N400,000. At a particular raid at the demolished hospital, Pointblanknews.com learnt that over 40 pregnant teenagers and some nurses were arrested with Ezuma at the hospital by security agents.
According to a source at the scene, “the medical Doctor has been in this business of sale of babies for too long. He has been in and out of police detention. Most times having his hospital sealed for one or two months and he come back to start all over again.”
A medical practitioner who declined to have his name on print told our correspondent that “after reported cases of Ezuma’s illegal activities, the Abia state chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) took the matter to the national body where he was cautioned against using his hospital to harbour pregnant teenagers.
“After our national body’s persuasion to discourage him from using his hospital for the illicit business failed on deaf ears, the association later withdrew his practicing license as a medical practitioner because there is no way a medical practitioner who was meant to save lives and deliver women of their babies will in turn negotiate the sale of such baby or babies. A hospital is a place where sick patients and pregnant women come to receive medical attention or deliver their babies, not to buy or sell babies.
Pointblanknews.com further gathered that after having his practicing license withdrawn by NMA, Ezuma went into running an NGO, named Ezuma Women and Children Right Initiative from where he continued with his illegal business of selling babies.
Police sources said when Ezuma learnt that he has been declared wanted by security agents; he went into hiding in Owerri, Imo state from where he continued with his wicked trade until last week when he was arrested in Egbu area of the state by security operatives who closed in on him.
