Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has appointed the Shehu of Borno, Dr. Abubakar Ibn Umar Garba El-Kanemi chancellor of the state-owned Niger Delta University.
This is the first time in the history of the 13-year institution a northerner would be appointed chancellor.
A statement by Dickson’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Mr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, said the appointment is with immediate effect.
