….. SAYS NEWSPAPER ADVERTORIAL QUESTIONING THE POSITION OF THE GOV SHOULD BE IGNORED
….. IT IS COMING FROM A FACELESS GROUP
The ruling Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Bayelsa State has reiterated the commitment of Governor Seriake Dickson to the re-election bid of President Goodluck Jonathan, contrary to the advertorial placed in one of the leading national newspapers in the country.
The party, in a statement signed by its Chairman, Col. Sam Inokoba (rtd), expressed shock over the advertorial with a caption, ‘Governor Seriake Dickson, on Whose Side Are You?’ by a faceless group known as Niger Delta United For Jonathan.
Calling on members of the party and the general public to ignore the publication, the party’s leadership, according to the statement, would have ignored the publication, but the increasing desperation of the opposition at national and state levels necessitated the reaction.
As a responsible state chapter of the largest political party in Africa, we shall not allow a few jesters sow ruinous seeds in the minds of our party faithful and the general public, that our political leaders are at war.
These opposition elements apparently think they can exploit the liberty of running to the media with tales of an imaginary crisis to drive a wedge between Her Excellency, Dame Patience Jonathan and Governor Seriake Dickson.
Calling on the opposition to play politics, according to democratic rules, the statement added that, no amount of blackmail, mudslinging or propaganda could set the Governor on a collision course with Mr. President and the first family.
It added, the First family is wiser than the antics of the opposition and objectives of such campaign of calumny.
The loyalty of our dear Governor to Mr. President and the PDP is without par. We are proud to say that, Governor Dickson’s enviable records in the past three years are a testimonial to what leadership is all about.
Governor Dickson has beyond doubt provided the desired leadership for PDP in the state. He has tirelessly, successfully and satisfactorily mobilized people within and outside Bayelsa State for Mr. President’s re-election on February 14, 2015.
