Bayelsans Reject Sylva, As Former Governor Loses Battle For Assembly Seat In His Constituency In Rescheduled Assembly Election

The Bayelsa State Government has reacted to comments credited to former Governor of the State, Chief Timipre Sylva, in some National dailies, where he accused incumbent Governor Henry Seriake Dickson of governing the people of the State by intimidating and putting fear in them.

A Government House statement described Chief Sylva’s remarks as those of a man, who has lost focus and not in touch with the realities on the ground, pointing out that, it was heartwarming that, he (Sylva) is not accusing Governor Dickson of multiple crimes and criminality, secret and cult killings, large scale corruption and brigandage, which were the hallmarks of Sylva’s tenure as governor of Bayelsa State.

According to the statement, Sylva’s era as governor of Bayelsa State were the darkest days in the history of the State, noting that, Bayelsans have become wiser and would not be cajoled or hoodwinked by his antics.

The statement notes that, if Sylva was a wise man, he would have seen the handwriting on the wall, that Bayelsans have since rejected him by voting massively for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in all the recent elections.

It explains that, as a clear manifestation of the peoples total dislike for Sylva, he lost in his unit, ward, constituency in the State and National Assembly polls, that were conducted recently in the State.

The statement, wondered how Sylva would in his wildest of imaginations, think that, he and the APC will stand any chance of defeating a performing PDP Governor in Hon. Seriake Dickson.
