Following the tragic attack on some communities in Benue State with death toll rising to 56 within two weeks, the State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has called on the Federal Government to step to forestall further carnage.
The governor made the disclosure on Saturday during a visit to the scenes of recent attacks in the state.

Gov. Alia who spoke to the media during the visit, condemned the violent attacks on defenseless people and called on security agencies to take more decisive action to end the killings.

He urged the people to remain calm and not be discouraged to the extent of resorting to self-help.
Following a matching order from the governor to security agencies and other agencies of government responsible for the protection of lives and properties, an eye witness who does not want this identity disclosed revealed to Pointblank News that the security presence in the area has increased.
“Emergency services have also been deployed, and relief materials are being distributed across the two affected LGAs.
The attacks in Ukum and Logo are the latest in a series of incidents linked to suspected herdsmen in Benue State.
Wednesday’s attack came hours after Governor Alia confirmed the arrest of three suspected herders in connection with the invasion of Otobi village on Tuesday night.
