Nigeria’s Super Falcons have received glowing commendations from the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and the First Lady of Anambra State, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, following their dramatic victory at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The duo applauded the team’s resilience, unity, and determination after they clinched a historic 10th continental title with a stunning comeback win against Morocco.
In separate statements on Sunday, both women praised the Falcons’ resilience, tenacity, and representation of the Nigerian spirit after their thrilling 3–2 comeback win over host nation Morocco in Rabat on Saturday night.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu, in a message titled “Super Falcons are Nigeria’s Strongest Ambassadors” described the players as the pride of the nation and a symbol of the country’s strength on the global stage.
“You have once again made us proud. You have proven to the world that Nigeria is a country of winners, fighters, and champions,” she said.
She highlighted the team’s discipline, unity, and courage during the final, saying their victory not only brought joy to millions but also reaffirmed the immense potential of Nigerian women in global sports.
On her part, Mrs. Nonye Soludo congratulated the Super Falcons for what she called a “historic triumph,” commending them for their display of the Nigerian can-do-it spirit and their role in promoting gender equality through sports.
“Our girls have shown the world what determination, skill and patriotism can achieve. They’ve made us all proud as a nation and as mothers, sisters, and daughters,” the Anambra First Lady stated.
She further emphasized that their victory would serve as motivation for young girls across Nigeria to pursue excellence, not just in football but in all areas of life.
The Falcons’ victory on Saturday night sealed their 10th WAFCON title, further solidifying their position as the most successful women’s football team in Africa.
Their dramatic comeback from two goals down captured hearts across the continent and drew widespread commendation from President Bola Tinubu and the first Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, political leaders, sports enthusiasts, and global observers.
