A pro-Jonathan pressure group, the South East/South South Alliance for Jonathan (SESSAJ) has accused some political elites in the North of using Boko Haram as an instrument to truncate the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.
National Co-ordinator of SESSAJ, Dr. Mike Egbuchulam who stated this in an interview in Aba, Abia State, was of the view that the security challenges facing the country today through the activities of members of Boko Haram, was the handiwork of those who did not want the president to succeed, stressing however that the problem was not peculiar to Nigeria.
“The truth must be told, the activities of Boko Haram are being sponsored by some politicians from the north who do not want the Jonathan administration to succeed”.
He said best way to handle the security problem in the country was not to ask a performing president to relinquish his position, instead that he should be encouraged to overcome the security challenge and take the nation to enviable height
He said his group, was canvassing for President Goodluck Jonathan to contest the 2015 election to be able to finish the programmes he started more over since the constitution did not bare him.
Egbuchulam, a university lecturer said his group was rooting for Jonathan to contest the next election based on his transformation agenda which he claimed to have impacted positively in all sectors of the nation’s economy.
According to him, “despite all the hurdles placed on his way by the opposition and the security challenges he has been grappling with, his w(Jonathan’s) administration has made giant strides in all sectors of the nation’s economy within a short time in office.”
He further stated, “When one is doing well, it behooves on the citizens of that country to support him and ask him to continue his good works which is exactly what we are doing.”
One of the leaders of the group and pro Jonathan campaigner, Dr. Love Arugu-Iwori and SESSAJ national secretary, Dr. Godfrey Pondei said the group was ready to go to any length to encourage anything that would be good for the country.
They stated that that was why they were canvassing for Jonathan to contest the 2015 election to be able to complete the good works he was doing for the country.
“We encourage every person who has seen the good works of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan to join hands with us irrespective of political affiliation to ensure that he is re-elected in 2015.”
