Boko Haram Will Soon Be Wiped Out- Abia Police Commissioner

by Our Reporter

Abia State Police Commissioner, Usman Tilli Abubakar has described Boko Haram as deviants of the society who would be rooted out of the country soon.

The police commissioner, who stated this in Aba on Monday during a familiarization tour of the Police Mobile Force 55 Squadron, urged all Nigerians to join hands in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgency adding that they are not Muslims, as their mandate is to kill and destroy.

“I want to disabuse the minds of most Nigerians who think that Boko Haram are Muslims. They are not Muslims, because Islam preaches peace, love and unity. Boko Haram are deviants of the society. Nigeria belongs to all of us. The constitution of the country stipulates our right to religion, education and association and so no one group has the right to decide our rights for us,” the CP said.

The CP maintained that the war against Boko Haram would soon be won as the security agencies are on top of the situation, stressing the triumph of evil over good can only be temporary.

Earlier in his address, the Commander, PMF 55 Squadron, Wilson Dankwano, stated that the command has always given a good account of itself wherever they are deployed within and outside Aba.

Dankwano announced that the Squadron, Aba, recently lost three of its officers to the Boko Haram sect in different attacks in April at Yobe state.

He gave the dead officers as Corporals Emmanuel Obongha and Ekpo Wofai Ubangha who both hailed from Cross River state.

”It is on record that the squadron had no record of casualties in nearly 3 years of its consistent involvement in the fight against the insurgence in the North. Not until recently where we lost 3 of our men to dreaded Boko Haram.”

He explained that the squadron contributed its quota in the fight against armed robbery and kidnapping in Aba, noting that the squadron recovered stolen and abandoned vehicles and sophisticated weapons as well as arrested several armed robbery and kidnap bandits.

Dankwano appealed to the CP to help in providing a befitting barracks accommodation for officers and men of the squadron, lamenting that the existing facility at the squadron is not enough for them.

He further appealed to the Commissioner to take over the running of the squadron’s clinic to reduce the burden on the squadron.
