The Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) has inaugurated an advisory team to mentor young professionals in the building industry.
The body announced the initiative on its official social media platforms on Monday, revealing that the Chairman’s Advisory Team on Mentoring Young Builders was formally inaugurated by its Chairman, Samson Opaluwah .
“This is part of our renewed commitment to promoting professional excellence and ensuring that the younger generation of builders is equipped to meet evolving industry demands,” Opaluwah stated.
The team is chaired by Onabekun Adekunle, with Christopher Egwu, Orikoku Olushola, and Yusuf Muhammed serving as members.
The mentors’ core mandate is to develop a robust mentorship framework that will bridge the gap between academic training and professional practice. According to the Council, the Advisory Team will also produce orientation materials for both mentors and mentees, with a delivery timeline of three months.
Speaking during the inauguration, CORBON emphasised that mentorship remains a crucial pillar in advancing professionalism and ensuring sustained growth in the sector. Council members, the Acting Assistant Registrar, and senior staff of the Council also attended the event.
The announcement has been met with widespread praise on social media.
On Facebook, Kasha Mbakuuv wrote: “Good one, a development long overdue. We have been almost left stranded after graduation without guild. This has been the main reason why the profession has been looked down upon for its whole time being and I am especially excited for the effort to get it right this time around.”
Adebayo Lateef called it “a wonderful movement.”
Omika Kadhim described it as “a good initiative.”
Israel Chux added: “this is really good step in the right direction.”
