CORBON Welcomes Former ABU VC Back to Practice

The immediate past Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Prof. Kabir Bala, has been formally welcomed back to professional practice by the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON).
Bala, who served as the 12th Vice Chancellor of ABU, paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of CORBON, Samson Opaluwah, at the Council Secretariat in recently.
Opaluwah disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
The visit according to CORBON, marked Bala’s reintegration into the building profession following the completion of his academic leadership role.
“This visit symbolizes a return to the fold. The Council appreciates Builders in strategic positions and is committed to recognizing their contributions during and after their tenured appointments,” Opaluwah said.
Bala expressed deep appreciation for the support he received during his tenure, describing it as a period of significant engagement and service.
“I thank the Almighty for the opportunity to successfully serve out my term as the Vice Chancellor,” he said.
He also highlighted key initiatives undertaken during his tenure at ABU and noted areas where progress was made.
The CORBON Chairman, who succeeded Bala in 2022 as head of the Council, praised the former Vice Chancellor’s contributions to institutional development.
“We witnessed notable progress at the University under your leadership. Your handover on April 30, 2025, was exemplary,” he said.
During the meeting, Opaluwah also briefed Bala on the progress of the Seventh Council, outlining recent activities and future plans.
The interaction served as a platform for both leaders to exchange ideas on the Council’s direction and explore potential collaborations.
Also present to receive the academic don was a member of the Council, Kennedy Aimiuwu, who joined in commending the former Vice Chancellor’s service to academia and the building profession.
