The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) has inaugurated a Technical Committee for its Permanent Headquarters Jahi Project as part of efforts to strengthen operational efficiency and regulatory effectiveness.
The inauguration took place during a hybrid ceremony on Thursday. Declaring the Committee inaugurated, COREN President, Engr. Sadiq Abubakar, described the initiative as “a major milestone in the Council’s history.”
According to him, the proposed world-class headquarters would “not only symbolize COREN’s institutional growth and resilience but also strengthen its capacity for enduring service to Engineering practice in Nigeria.”
He underscored the project’s strategic importance in boosting the Council’s visibility and efficiency while reassuring stakeholders of COREN’s “unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and excellence in the execution of the project.”
The Committee is chaired by Engr. Olaolu Ogunduyile, and comprises other engineering professionals and experts.
Its Terms of Reference (ToR) include project scoping and definition, technical and financial feasibility studies, developing Public-Private Partnership (PPP) models, ensuring regulatory compliance, engaging stakeholders and potential investors, and submitting periodic progress reports to the COREN Council.
Charging the Committee to carry out its mandate with “diligence, innovation, and integrity,” Prof. Abubakar stressed that the successful completion of the headquarters “would stand as a lasting legacy to the Engineering Profession in Nigeria.”
The COREN Permanent Headquarters Jahi Project is envisioned as a landmark development that will not only house the Council’s administrative operations but also reinforce its role in advancing engineering regulation and practice across the country.
