The Federal Government has commended the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for generating an impressive ₦3.7 trillion in the first half of 2025 surpassing budgetary projections by 12.5% and outperforming 2024 performance by 25%.
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, disclosed this during the 62nd meeting of the NCS Board in Abuja, noting that while the achievement is laudable, more ambitious reforms are underway to sustain and expand revenue growth.
Central to these reforms is the National Single Window Initiative, a digital trade platform scheduled for full deployment in 2026. Designed to streamline import and export processes, the platform is expected to reduce delays, cut operational costs, and enhance Nigeria’s trade competitiveness.
“The National Single Window will enable faster, more efficient trade processing, significantly boosting revenue while making Nigeria a more attractive hub for investment,” Edun stated.
The NCS Board also approved a series of governance reforms, including key senior appointments and promotions, aimed at strengthening professionalism and institutional capacity within the Service.
Edun emphasized that these measures align with President Bola Tinubu’s broader economic strategy to stabilize inflation, enhance exchange rate stability, and build a transparent, technology-driven trade ecosystem that supports private sector-led growth.
