Bayelsa State governor, Henry Seriake Dickson has congratulated Senator
Ben Murray-Bruce on his 60th birthday anniversary describing him as “a
gift to Bayelsa State and the Ijaw nation.”
The governor in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel
Iworiso-Markson and made available to journalists on Saturday in Yenagoa
said the innovative and creative talents of Bruce have in the last three
decades opened a positive chapter for Nigeria in the encyclopaedia of
global entertainment literature.
Dickson said, “On behalf of the government and people of Bayelsa State, I
wish to felicitate with one of our own, one in whom we are so pleased as a
State and as a people, Distinguished Senator Ben Murray Bruce, who is
arguably the doyen of show business promotion in Nigeria and beyond, an
accomplished administrator and media tycoon of inestimable disposition, on
the occasion of his Diamond Jubilee celebration.
“Distinguished Senator Murray-Bruce, you are indeed a rare gem and a gift
to Bayelsa State and the Ijaw nation. Your innovative and creative talents
have in the last three decades projected the people and cultures of our
land to the world stage. Today, things that were thought to be exclusive
preserves of the western world have been made a part of our society,
because you took the bold initiative to venture into them.
“As a first time Senator, you have already achieved remarkable milestones
and carved an enviable niche for yourself and indeed our people through
your now famous ※I just want to make Common Sense§ clich谷, that has
clearly become the one of the most widely accepted political slogans of
our time.
“As you celebrate, wine and dine on the occasion of your 60thbirthday, do
bear mind that, as a Government and as a people, we are extremely proud of
your exploits and will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with, as you
strive to give greater meaning and commitment to your assignment of
representing the people of Bayelsa 每 East in the senate of the Federal
Republic of Nigeria.”
