Media Icon and Politician, Raymond Dokpesi has denied stepping down from
the race for National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party for another
candidate, Chief Bode George.
Addressing party leaders in Akure, the Capital of Ondo State, Dokpesi said
there wasno iota of truth in reports currently trending especially on some
social media platforms that he has withdrawn from the race for
elderstatesman, Chief Bode George.
He said although he has a lot of respect for Bode George whom he described
as his close political ally and elder, he wouldn’t consider stepping down
for him.
He said if there is any need for him to reemphasize his position, “George
belongs to the old school and was foisted on the party by former President
Olusegun Obasanjo”.
He said “Lagos State that he’s in charge of is in peices.
There are several factions in Lagos.
So somebody who is not able to put together one state he wants to put
together all the 36 states?
He asked.
Dokpesi told his supporters and party leaders to disregard the said report.
He said he remained committed to rebranding the party and repositioning
it for future election victories in Ondo and the country at large.
He tasks members on discipline; insisting that it’s time to return power
to the people.
