Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), have arrested former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, shortly after his release from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Sources familiar with the development disclosed that El-Rufai was picked up by SSS operatives in Abuja on Wednesday, moments after regaining his freedom from the anti-graft agency.
The circumstances surrounding his fresh arrest were not immediately clear as of press time.
However, security sources hinted that the action may be connected to ongoing investigations involving national security concerns.
El-Rufai had earlier been questioned by the EFCC over allegations linked to financial transactions and other matters said to have occurred during his tenure as governor of Kaduna State.
Attempts to obtain official confirmation from both the SSS and the EFCC were unsuccessful, as spokespersons for the agencies had yet to issue formal statements.
The development has sparked reactions among political observers and supporters of the former governor, with many questioning the timing of the arrest and its potential political implications.
More details to follow.
