Eid-El-Fitri: FG Extends Public Holiday

by Our Reporter
Following the non-sighting of the moon, the Federal Government has extended the Public Holiday to mark Eid-El-Fitri Sallah celebration from Wednesday to Thursday 7th July.
The extension followed the position of  the Sultan of Sokoto,  Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III,  to the effect that the Ramadan fast had to continue on Wednesday.
Government had earlier declared Tuesday and Wednesday as public holiday to mark the Sallah celebration.
Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau (Rtd) Tuesday   made the announcement concerning the extension  in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Mr Bassey Akpanyung, in Abuja.
He urged Nigerians to use the period to reflect on the unity and peaceful co-existence of the country.
