Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has said that the essence of ejecting miscreants
from Enyimba Hotels, Aba is to sanitise the city.
The governor, who spoke through his Special Senior Assistant on media, Mr.
Ugochukwu Emezue said that the miscreants pose security threat to the
city.
Emezue said:” If you come into Aba from the Ikot- Ekpene axis, the first
edifice you will notice is Enyimba.
He continued:”The sight of miscreants occupying the edifice paints Aba as
a city that is not organised .Infact, it erodes the aesthetic status of
the city”.
Emezue said that the presence of the miscreants within the facility
creates an environment that is not conducive.
He said that in order to create an enabling business environment, the
present government has made security one of the priorities.
It will be recalled that Abia State government in its commitment to
implement the Aba Urban Renewal policy, said it was embarking on a massive
infrastructural rehabilitation of government buildings and all abandoned
projects in the Aba metropolis.
One of such buildings is the long-abandoned, seven-storey edifice of the
Enyimba Hotel complex near Aba waterside.
A statement by Mr. Godwin Adindu, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor,
said,â€government is aware that over the years, all manners of miscreants
and illegal squatters have turned the place to their abodeâ€.
The statement also directed all the illegal occupants in the building to
vacate the place within one week of serving notice, adding that the
relevant government agencies were ready to commence a massive
rehabilitation work on the building.
