EX -ICAN PRESIDENT, AJAEGBU JOINS APC, SAYS PDP HAS FAILED ABIA PEOPLE

by Our Reporter

Former Director of Finance of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the
2015 general elections, in Abia State, Mr. Chidi Ajaegbu, has defected to
the All Progressives Congress, APC, saying that his former party has
disappointed the people of the state.

Ajaegbu, who is a former President of the Institute of Chartered
Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN, said he left his former party following what
he described as the failure of the PDP-led government in the state to meet
the expectations of the people.

In an interview with newsmen, Ajaegbu who was presented to the leadership
of APC in Osisioma Ngwa council area, promised to join other progressives
and leaders to ensure that APC takes over the mantle of leadership in Abia
State, adding that the structure of PDP in the state does not allow for
all inclusive governance. He had earlier declared for the APC at his
Umuojima ward.

He said, “I have formally decamped from PDP to APC. My expectations and
that of Abians are not being met by the present government, and the
reasons being given are not tenable.

“The structure of PDP does not give room for credible democracy and
all-inclusive governance. We need to find a credible alternative to ensure
that the ‘Change’ berths in Abia. The money accruable to the state is a
common wealth and we need transparency on how it is being deployed to the
serve of our people.”

While receiving Ajaegbu into the party, Abia APC chairman, Mr. Donatus
Nwankpa, who reiterated readiness of his party to dislodge the ruling PDP
in the state, expressed delight that the former ICAN boss, whom he
discerned as a ‘man of honour with an impeccable character, is bringing to
the APC, transparency, honesty and discipline which he also said is
‘lacking in Abia State.’
