FCT Polls: PDP Wins Five Out Of Six Area Councils — INEC

The PDP has won five out of the six chairmanship seats in the FCT area councils, Mr Okezie Nwankwo, Head of Public Affairs and Political Party Monitoring, FCT INEC office, has said.

The five area councils won by the PDP are Kuje, Bwari, Abaji, Kwali, and Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC)

However, the ANPP won the Gwagwalada Area Council.

Nwankwo told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Abuja that PDP won the chairmanship seat and 11 councillorship seats in AMAC, while CPC won one councillorship seat.

He said that in Abaji Area Council, the PDP won the chairmanship seat and six councillorships seats, while the ACN won three councillorship seats.
The result of one councillorship election in the area has yet to be released.

In Kuje Area Council, the PDP won the chairmanship seat and nine councillorship seats. The result of one councillorship election in the area is still outstanding.

Nwankwo said that the PDP won the chairmanship seat and seven councillorship seats in Bwari Area Council, while the CPC won one seat.

He also said that the PDP won the chairmanship seat and nine councillorship seats in Kwali Area Council, while the ANPP won a councillorship seat.

However, the INEC official said that the ANPP won the chairmanship seat and eight councillorship seats the Gwagwalada Area Council, while PDP won two councillorship seats.

NAN reports that Gwagwalada Area Council has always been a stronghold of the ANPP since the onset of the current political dispensation. (NAN)
