Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on friends, associates, and well-wishers to channel birthday gestures into donations for the completion of the National Library project.
The First Lady, who clocks 65 on September 21, 2025, said in a video message on Monday, that instead of hosting an elaborate celebration, she has chosen to dedicate the day to God and to a cause dear to her heart.
“By God’s grace, I will be 65 years old on the 21st of September, which falls on a Sunday. I have therefore resolved to mark it quietly by thanking God for His blessings and committing the day to Him,” she stated.
Mrs. Tinubu urged Nigerians to consider contributing to the “Oluremi at 65 Education Fund” instead of sending cakes, cards, flowers, or newspaper adverts.
“I appeal to everyone who may be thinking of sending me birthday cards, gifts, or greetings in the media, to kindly redirect such gestures into donations towards the completion of the National Library. That would be the greatest birthday gift to me,” she said.
She explained that her passion for education inspired the initiative, describing the National Library project as a “worthy cause” that she is committed to seeing through.
According to her, the donations are being coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Education through the “Oluremi at 65 Education Fund,” domiciled at Zenith Bank Plc, account number 1310314977.
Her spokesperson, Bukola Kukoyi, in a post on X, cautioned the public against fraudulent accounts.
“Important announcement from the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria… Kindly disregard any other account details being circulated,” Kukoyi wrote.
