Men of the Nigeria Police have arrested Mr. Peter Ameh, Chairman of the
defunct Progressive Peoples Alliance, PPA, over a criminal case of
Impersonation and forgery.
Mr. Ameh whose Political Party was deregistered by the Independent
National Electoral Commission, INEC, was apprehended by the police
acting on a tip-off after many weeks of being elusive and declining all
invitation from the officers of the law. He was arrested along with one
of his accomplices, one Mr. Ezeobika.
The Police team which have been investigating a reported case of
impersonation and forgery filed against Ameh and some of his accomplices
by the present leadership of the IPAC led by AAC Chairman Dr. Leonard
Nzenwa have been on Amehs trail for weeks now with him being elusive,
thereby leading to an intensified manhunt which yielded result minutes
ago with his surrender and arrest.
The petition against Ameh was based on his secret use of IPAC letterhead
alongside over 7 others including Mr. Ezeobika to impersonate as
officials of IPAC carrying out activities as officers of IPAC knowing
full well that his removal after the deregistration of his PPA party by
INEC which INEC has not relisted the party and removal which the FCT
Court sitting in Abuja affirmed and declared Dr. Leonard Nzenwa as the
authentic leader of IPAC.
Ameh acting alongside one Barr. Ezeobika who impersonated as the Legal
Adviser of IPAC of the deregistered UP party, Georginia of the
deregistered Young Democratic Party, and others still at large have been
signing official documents and engaging in activities with the name of
IPAC and impersonating as IPAC officers for months now.
The police with the arrest of Ameh and Ezeobika and the impending arrest
of his accomplices are expected to charge them before the court over the
criminal act of impersonation and forgery and not perpetually hold them
at the FCT Police Command where they are presently being interrogated.
