‎The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation has partnered with the Federal Government to launch a capacity building programme aimed at strengthening public planning and improving service delivery across Nigeria.
‎The training targets mid-level staff in Planning, Research and Statistics (PRS) departments of federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
‎Announcing the initiative on Thursday, the Foundation said the programme was developed in collaboration with the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) and the Central Result Delivery Coordination Unit (CRDCU).
‎It is designed to close existing gaps in planning and tackle long-standing institutional weaknesses that have slowed the effectiveness of public service delivery.
‎The organisers explained that better planning translates into tangible improvements for citizens — from stocked health centres and functioning schools to safer communities and reliable infrastructure. The training will focus on equipping PRS staff, who play a central role in policy and planning, with the tools, confidence, and insights needed to drive transformational change.
‎Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede, Executive Vice Chair of the Foundation, stressed the importance of building capable public planners.
‎“We believe in a Nigeria where every citizen can feel the impact of good governance, where children receive quality education, mothers have access to safe healthcare, and communities benefit from thoughtful planning and delivery. That future starts with strong public sector leaders who are equipped to plan, track and deliver results. This training is about empowering those leaders,” she said.
‎Participants will be trained in strategic planning, research, monitoring and evaluation, and data analysis, with emphasis on leveraging digital tools for smarter planning. The programme also aims to instil a results-driven mindset that promotes innovation, collaboration, and data-based decision-making for real outcomes.
‎This intervention builds on the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation’s track record in supporting public sector reforms. In recent years, it has provided targeted training in policy writing, project management, communications, and digital skills, while conducting needs assessments within MDAs to strengthen institutional capacity.
