by Our Reporter

The commissioner for information in Enugu State, Chuks Ugwoke has dismissed the rumour making the round that the state governor, Sullivan Chime was dead.

Ugwoke,s reaction followed widely circulated rumour that the governor has passed on.

He insisted in his reaction that the governor was very much alive.

Ugwuoke described the rumour as the handiwork of mischief makers.

The commissioner stated the news of the death of the governor was unfounded as the “governor was hale and hearty.”

According to him, the governor had no business, health or otherwise in India and vowed that this time around, the government would get at the root of the rumour to unmask those behind the incessant posting of such in the internet.

Also reacting to the rumour, a member of the opposition Save Enugu Group (SEG), Ray Nnaji ,advised the public to ignore the rumour, saying it was posted by mischief makers.

Nnaji, a former commissioner in the state, expressed regrets that those behind the rumours were toying with the life of the governor, adding that Enugu people would not be deceived again by such wicked rumours.

His words “It is a taboo among the Igbos for people to wish one dead, even if the person is your enemy. These ugly rumours always peddled about our governor by mischief makers must stop. You cannot call that opposition but mischief,” insisted Nnaji.

He urged the governor not to be distracted by such mischevious insinuations and concentrate in his delivery of democracy dividend to the people of Enugu state.
