Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson on Monday met with appointees from the three senatorial districts and strategized on the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan and other Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) flag bearers at the State and National levels.
The meeting which lasted for four hours had in attendance, the State Deputy Governor, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kombowei Benson, Secretary to the State Government, Professor Edmond Allison Oguru, the Special Adviser to the governor on Political Matters, Hon. Fyneman Wilson and a host of others, deliberated extensively on the success of the party in the forthcoming elections.
The Governor in his address, urged the stakeholders to put aside their political differences and work for the common interest of the party.
According to him, what should be of paramount concern to the people is the re-election of President Jonathan and other flag bearers that will be representing the state at the State House of Assembly and the National Assembly.
Governor Dickson said Global attention will be focused on the state in the forthcoming election, noting that as Mr. President is from Bayelsa, the people should comport themselves in a peaceful manner during and after the conduct of the election.
Presenting the communiqué at the end of the meeting, the Chief of Staff Government House, Yenagoa, Rt. Hon. Talford Ongolo called for the active participation of all the appointees in the ongoing sensitization campaign on the collection of the Permanent Voter’s cards by registered voters across the state.
The four-point communiqué read in part; ’that all political appointees should work towards the success of His Excellency, the President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, and all other candidates in the forthcoming general election.
‘That all political appointees of Hon. Seriake Dickson should deliver their polling units in what the communiqué referred to as, ’operation deliver your constituency.
’That all political appointees of Hon. Seriake Dickson should support on-going efforts of the present administration to ensure that all registered voters obtain PVC’s.
All political appointees expressed gratitude and support to Hon. Seriake Dickson for the renewed call for election preparation and for the opportunity for interaction.
