Gov. Ikpeazu to block revenue leakages, cut down frivolous expenses

Abia State Governor,Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has said that he will do everything to cut down frivolous expenses in the state and block revenue
leakages.

The governor disclosed this when he met with the transition committee
chairmen of the 17 local government areas in the state on the aegis of the
All Local Government Conference of Nigeria (ALGON) who paid him a courtesy
visit.

The governor, who said that he was determined to confront individuals who
constitute a cog on the wheel of progress at Local Government and state
levels , called on Abians to re-examine themselves and do away with things
that will sabotage the state.

While he saluted the doggedness of the transition committee chairmen to
partner him, he said  that the ghost worker syndrome cannot be sustained
without the support of those in the system.

The governor said that he was prepared to pay only staff that were working
and not those who were not doing anything.

Dr. Ikpeazu described the local Government system as an integral part of
every government and appreciated the chairmen for remaining focused in
spite of obvious challenges.

In his speech, the chairman, ALGON, Abia state, Chief Ukwu Rocks Emma said
they have resolved to assist the Governor in his quest for speedy
development of the state as they have told their council people that it
will not business as usual.

He said that it is their resolve that their work force must shun negative
inclination and pledged their support to the governor.
