Prominent armed robbers’ Hunter, Alhaji Ali Mohammed, Popularly known as
Ali Kwara in Bauchi State has explained that refusal of Bauchi Government
to sign death sentences of armed robbers have increase armed robbery in
the state.
Kwara said kidnapping is on the increase in the state especially within
rural dwellers.
He Spoke in Bauchi after he handed over three suspected kidnappers to the
Bauchi State Police Command.
He said: “Nigeria has good laws in place for all criminal activities. If
you are arrested with arms or ammunitions you will be sentence to life in
prison, if an armed robber killed someone he too will be killed, the laws
are there in every state in Nigeria you will have a good Judge that
sentenced armed robbers or kidnappers to death but when the death warrant
was taken to the table of the state governor to sign he will keep it in
view up to the end of his eight year tenure. He will not sign it which led
to increase in the activities of robbers and kidnappers in the country”.
The hunter urged the authorities to first punish any men in uniform,
judicial officers, Politicians, religious or community leaders that
shielded armed robbers, criminals that supply them with arms or aide to
their release to be punished with death sentences first in order to serve
as a lesson to others as part of effort to reduce armed robbery and
kidnappings in the country.
He suggested that both Governors and law makers should have informants in
the police station and courts to ensure proper implementations of Justice
and bring all culprits to book.
