A group known as Awake and Defend Action Movement (ADAM), has called on ex service men of the Igbo and Niger Delta origin to unite and organize a security summit to brainstorm on how to protect lives and properties of the people of the region.
The group alleged that farmers could no longer go to their farms as Fulani herdsmen have invaded forests in Igbo and Niger Delta communities where they maim and rape women.
Addressing a press conference in Aba at the weekend, Chairman and Acting Secretary of the group, Ndubuisi Igwekani (Agu Biafra) and Chief James Ekpo, respectively, said their investigations revealed that there are over 66 Fulani settlements in the old Eastern region and warned the people of the area to be security conscious.
The group stated that recent political developments in Nigeria have shown a deliberate marginalization of the people of the old Eastern region by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in the areas of security, economic and political appointments.
“We use this opportunity to call great sons of Eastern Nigeria who have either served in the military or police to unite and organize a security summit to look into the activities of Fulani herdsmen who have invaded our forest in almost all communities and have taken over our lands, preventing our mothers from farming. The suppression of the people of old Eastern region especially the Igbo has been heightened by the present coordinated attacks by Nigerian Customs, Immigration, Police and Army against the lives and properties of our people. In appointments, only one ethnic group, the Hausa-Fulani, is the major beneficiary. Now we can describe Nigeria as Hausa-Fulani republic.
“Most agonizing is the massive militarization of the entire old Eastern Nigeria region with operation python dance, crocodile tears and other totally useless military occupations. However, despite their military occupation, pro self determination groups from the Niger Delta region and the Igbo speaking states continue to rise in numbers.
“They have continued to resist the evil tyranny, economic and military occupation of our land. The federal government prefers situations which are likely to create room for youth violence and give them opportunity to massacre our people.”
ADAM warned that it would no longer tolerate any further on any Easterner by the military, Police, Boko Haram ,Miyetti Allah or any other group.
“We will retaliate with appropriate measures and brutal force including military strike, economic espionage and any other means considered equal and opposite reaction to any form of unjustified evil attack on our people with appropriate measures and brutal force including military strike, economic espionage and any other means considered equal and opposite reaction to any form of unjustified evil attack on our people. The Federal Government must declare Fulani Herdsmen a terrorist organization and stop them from further on Nigerians.”
