Abosede Aloba, the mother of late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has issued a scathing public statement condemning those she accused of bullying and tormenting her son before his death.
In a viral social media post, Mrs. Aloba lashed out at critics who have questioned her silence and composure since Mohbad’s controversial passing in September 2023. She insisted that public mourning is not the only proof of grief and warned those who contributed to her son’s pain that their actions would not go unpunished.
“SHAME on everyone cursing me. I lost my son and you sit online attacking me because I don’t show my pain on social media like you expect,” she wrote.
The grieving mother went further to accuse certain individuals of tormenting Mohbad while he was alive but now denying any wrongdoing. Without mincing words, she called out show promoter Samson Balogun, popularly known as Sam Larry, describing him as a “coward.”
“To those who bullied, beat, and tormented my son, Promise Ilerioluwa Aloba, while he was alive but are now denying it and playing innocent, God sees you. There is no peace for the wicked. Promise’s blood will never let you rest. Your day of reckoning is coming.”
Mohbad died under unclear circumstances on September 12, 2023, sparking widespread protests, a coroner’s inquest, and calls for justice across Nigeria. The Lagos State Government ordered an autopsy, and several individuals were invited for questioning, including Sam Larry and Mohbad’s former label boss, Naira Marley.
While investigations continue, Mohbad’s family has remained divided on issues surrounding the singer’s burial, legacy, and custody of his son. His mother’s recent statement adds a fresh layer of emotion to a case that continues to grip national attention.
“His blood is speaking louder than your lies. His voice lives on, yours will not,” she added.
As Nigerians await the final autopsy results and possible legal proceedings, the late singer’s mother has vowed that justice must prevail.
