Senator Ifeanyi Ubah says he has not been sacked as the lawmaker
representing Anambra South senatorial district

Ubah, on Friday, said the FCT High Court Kubwa only refused to vacate
its earlier ruling, which had since been faulted on the grounds of
jurisdiction.

He explained that Justice Bello Kawu ruled on an application to vacate
an earlier judgement of the court on the grounds of lack of jurisdiction
and asked the parties to proceed to the Appeal Court.

He said, “The reports of my sacking from the Senate is not correct. I
remain the substantive Senator representing Anambra South.”

A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court sitting in the Bwari area
of Abuja on Friday sacked Ubah of the Young Progressives Party (YPP)
over certificate forgery.

The court declined to set aside its judgement on the nullification of
the election of Ubah for allegedly using a forged National Examination
Council (NECO) certificate to contest the senatorial election that held
in the state on February 23, 2019.

The court, in a ruling by Justice Bello Kawu, re-affirmed the order it
made on April 11, 2019, which directed the Independent National
Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the Certificate of Return it
issued to Ubah and issue a fresh one to Obinna Uzoh of the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP), who came second in the poll.

Ubah had approached the court to set aside the judgement which he
insisted occasioned a grave miscarriage of justice against him.

He decried that he was neither served with the court processes nor
hearing notice with respect to the suit before the court proceeded to
deliver the judgement against.
