A chieftain of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Imo state,
Chief Martin Agbaso is currently on war path with former Minister of
Interior and governorship aspirant on the platform of the party, Capt.
Emmanuel Iheanacho (rtd) over claims that the latter is bankrupt.
In a recent interview, Agbaso declared Iheanacho bankrupt for failing to
pay him the sum of N1 billion which he demanded from him during a
reconciliatory meeting for APGA factions in the state.
The APGA chieftain was said to have added that the former minister cannot
fly the APGA governorship flag because he does not have the funds to run a
successful campaign.
Agbaso is alleged to have vowed never to support the ambition of the
former minister even though both hail from the same Emekuku town in Owerri
North council area of the state.
Speaking to journalists at his campaign office in Owerri, Iheanacho
described the insinuation by Agbaso that he is bankrupt as laughable.
“Im not bankrupt and can never be because I have all the funds for my
campaigns up to the elections proper,” he said.
The former minister disclosed that he has made his budget for the
governorship elections, stressing that his many businesses are doing well.
He added that he is very resourceful but always considerate on how he
makes expenditures.
Dismissing Agbaso’s statements as funny, Iheanacho said, “It is like a
character of one who thinks he cannot ever be the governor of Imo state,
and yet does not want any other person to become the governor to serve the
people.”
The governorship aspirant who insisted that his ultimate desire is to
render service to Imo people advised Agbaso to work hard to rebuild APGA
in the state.
“It may not be in the interest of any politician to be associated with
demanding for so much money for any elective position in the party. Im
convinced that I’m the most genuine aspirant. I don’t have any skeleton in
my cupboard. I have resolved to remain focused without minding any
distraction.”
