Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha has stated that commissioner-nomineesand Special Assistants as well as Special Advisers will be further screened by the state council of traditional rulers after the House of Assembly had done so.
The governor who disclosed this while addressing members of the Imo state Parliament during their special session to mark his 51stbirthday anniversary in Owerri , said the screening by the monarchs is to ensure that the appointees meet the traditional requirements for the position.
He posited that Imo traditional parliament has the powers to stop any nominee from being appointed into position of power in the state, stressing that the screening will make the royal fathers to know who will assume any office in the state.
Okorocha commended the Imo Traditional Parliament headed by Eze Samuel Agunwa Ohiri for promoting Igbo culture in the state and expressed gratitude to the monarchs for the honour done with the special session to mark his birthday.
In his speech, Eze Ohiri who doubles as chairman of Imo state Council of Traditional rulers and the state Traditional Parliament said they decided to mark the governor’s birthday in recognition of his support for monarchs in the state.
According to the Eze Ohiri, the governor has increased the monthly allowance, security vote of the monarchs as well as the building of the secretariat of state council of Traditional rulers and restoring peace in the communities through the settlement of Ezeship disputes.
